PYP Elementary
Elementary continues the IP PYP curriculum framework led by inquiry and reflection. Elementary students build upon the “student centered” approach to education whereby they learn first by reflecting on what they already know and then seeking new answers to issues that transcend subject areas of math, science, social studies, language arts, literature, additional language and the arts. On a day-to-day basis, PYP students engage in learning by gaining new knowledge and develop understanding of concepts.
Throughout the process, which marks the heart of learning, students develop the learner profile attributes and approaches to learning by exploring subject knowledge and transdisciplinary themes to reflect and take action.
PYP Exhibition
In Grade 5, students get the opportunity to participate in the PYP Exhibition. In the exhibition students deepen their understanding of an issue they have chosen to inquire about. This process allows students to take responsibility of their learning by empowering them and helping them build their capacity to take action.
The exhibition is a powerful demonstration of student agency and an essential requirement for completing the Primary Years Programme. Parents, teachers and students have important roles in helping make the Exhibition learning journey a success for each student. As a parent, you play a crucial role in helping your child through the process by being supportive and engaged with his/her independent inquiry.
